Nu Metal heroes HED PE began their extensive European Tour at The Craufurd Arms last night (Friday 12th), backed up by Black Orchid Empire and melodic hardcore quintet Conveyer- which for them was their first ever show in Europe.
Conveyer brought their A-game in a 30-minute set that showcased everything that is great about the band, as their chaotic punk rock energy filtered through to the audience- undoubtedly earning the Midwest five-piece some new fans on the night.
Bruising renditions of 'Drift' and 'Whetstone' were high points, as the Victory Records-signed band promoted their latest album 'No Future' in typical hardcore style, and they are sure to be contenders for 'Band of the Night' on many more dates as the tour progresses.
HED PE then took to the stage, led by the enigmatic Jahred Gomes, and their set began with swooning reggae grooves which burst into life on 'Killing Time'. In fact, their set consisted of older material rather than anything from their latest record 'Forever!', although they did play the hardcore punk number 'Waste' from it.
The further the Californian's got into their set, the more the audience participated, and there were some brutal mosh pits for the fan favourite 'Bartender' and the song of the night 'Renegade'.
HED PE has been going over 20 years now, and Jahred clearly still has the passion for the fight; regularly thanking the crowd for coming out to the show, and often declaring his love for the UK, and everyone left the venue happy with what they saw tonight.
There is still plenty of time to get yourselves to one of these shows, as HED PE and Conveyer are going all over Europe in the next couple of months. There is also a nice mix of musical styles so you'll get a little bit of everything on this tour, so go and get those tickets sorted now.
